The Dichotomy of Being

Germany is a country that refuses to let its past disappear, both the joy and the horror. Her cities wear their scars openly, where reconstruction and remembrance exist side by side, asking us to hold more than one truth at a time. I return because I am fascinated by the conversation between history and ordinary life, where tram wires cross Baroque skylines and yesterday quietly, often uncomfortably, inhabits today.
